Toyota FT-86 would RAPE the G25

A 305hp budget sports coupe? If this is true, it's going to be the next big hit. Forget the stupid little 50K Inferior Performance Line G37 or the 32k G25. Anyone with even half a brain would rather hop on the FT-86.  The only thing that can go wrong with this car is if it's sold under the Scion Badge.

The rumored pricing for his beast is about $25k! So forget the IPL G37.  You can get 2 of these. One as a daily and one as a track car.  Looking at the concept, this thing is one sick ride.  Hopefully, Toyota doesn't mess this up with the production car, like Infinti did with the G37. LOL  I would trade my G35 for this ride. Heck, I even thought about trading it for a 2010 V6 Camry.

Toyota FT-86 Could Get 305-HP Subaru WRX STI Engine

Previewed in concept form, the upcoming Toyota FT-86 was introduced as a budget sports car inspired by the Corolla AE86 and using a low-powered Subaru boxer engine capable of around 200-hp. Now, reports suggest that with increased development costs Toyota has decided to take the project further up-market, opting instead to run the WRX STI’s 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, producing a significant 305-hp.

Nissan begs Toyota for a handout.....

Nissan first had to wait for Honda's VTEC patent to run out before it decided to give it's 2008 G37 "VVEL" on both cams. Previous cars before that only had it on the exhaust side.

While Honda had the Technology way back in what? 1989? LOL! This is no surprise. Because my 2006 G35 has a "Push button" Navigation while the 2002, Honda Accord has a touch screen Navigation. Nissan BARELY went touch screen in 2007. 

Honda and Toyota are both moving forward while Nissan is barely catching up. And how are they catching up? They are begging Mercedes Ben for their motor to use on future Nissan / Infiniti Vehicles, and now they're begging Toyota to see if they can use their Hybrid Technology in their vehicles.

The only thing Nissan has going for them is the Skyline GTR. But that's just a butt ugly ricer with a turbo slapped onto it. Wow it goes fast! Yeah, and a 1989 CRX with Twin Turbo can hit low 7's on the 1/4. And that won't cost as much as a 80k GT-Ricer.

2012 Infiniti M Hybrid First Drive

It took a while, but with the 2012 Infiniti M Hybrid, Nissan is entering the hybrid fray on its own terms. Yes, Nissan currently produces the Altima Hybrid, but the company licensed that car's hybrid system from competitor Toyota, a move that certainly involved tucked tails, hats in hands and some pride-filled esophagi.


Electric-Only or Blended Operation
Nissan's first in-house hybrid system is a clever evolution of familiar powertrain hardware. It can propel the big rear-drive luxury sedan solely on battery power, with the engine only or some combination of the two. Unlike with Toyota's hybrid system, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is not used, nor is a second electric motor. In this respect, Nissan's hybrid system is more reminiscent of Hyundai's hybrid drivetrain.

Infiniti, moving backwards?

Introducing the New Infinti G25!  This car has the looks of a performance / luxury vehicle and cost about as much as a 2003 G35 Coupe when it was first released in 2002!

This POS has a price tag of 34k!  Really?  For about 1-2k more, you can get an entry level G37 Sedan LOL!

What is this car competing with?   A 2009 Nissan Maxima has 290hp / 206 lb TQ!

Ricer of the Month - January | The IPL G37 Coupe

Check out this month ricer of the month. A 2011 G37 going for 50k. It has the name and the price, but does it have the numbers to back it up?

IPL = Inferior Performance Line?

edmunds just released an article outlining the G37 IPL performance. And just as expected, it's not worth the price the IPL is selling for . I mean, what the do you expect? It's a G37 with the same exact motor as a stock G37. All it has is some ricey body kits, red leather seats and a freaking intake.

The Results:

1/4-Mile: 14.0 @ 102.1 (14.6 @ 100.8 TC On)
0-60 with 1-ft Rollout (sec): 5.5 (6.3 TC On)

Woah son! For an extra 10k, you gets an intake and some red seats! Don't look at the numbers. Real ballers pay 50k for an IPL G. Anyone who says otherwise is a broke motherfucker and needs to buy a Civic. You need to pay to play.

Check out the body kits son. It comes RICE straight from the factory! The G37 has a bubbly and curvy body. Not sure WTF Infiniti was thinking when they decided to go with a boxy and jagged body kits that doesn't flow with the car at all. I bet an aftermarket company can make a better looking kit for the G37.

To sum it all up, what they're (and everyone else) are saying is, all the IPL G37 is, is a stock G37 with ricer upgrades. Basically, it's for the lazy ricers who wants to rice their car but don't know how to. They're basically trying to get into the ricer scene. After all, the G Coupe is the only vehicle in the Infinti line up that sells. And the red seats, just screams, look at me, "I'm a Phucking Loser."

Infiniti G35 and the Nissan Maxima. Same motor, same parts?

Most informed owners are very aware that the VQ35De has a history of oil consumption and oil leaks. (Google it). There is a LONG history of oil consumptions on all cars using the same motor. From the Nissan Maxima to the Infiniti G35.

Also down the road, some owners at 70k are seeing oil leaking onto the spark plugs. (see video here). What should be a fairly inexpensive is actually rape. As you can see below. Because the spark plug gaskets are "Built-in", you cannot replace the gasket. Instead, you have to purchase a brand new valve cover.

What's interesting is, the Maxima and the G35 share the same exact motor. (VQ35DE). Yet the parts has a huge price difference. As you can see below.

Although several cars share the same exact motor, the valve cover design are "slightly" different. So it MAY or MAY NOT fit perfectly. It may fit on the engine perfectly, you may have trouble bolting the OEM plastic engine cover onto the valve cover.

Maybe an Aftermarket company can look into this and make an all metal valve cover with replaceable spark plug gaskets. @ $400 to purchase a plastic cover, I'm sure most owners are willing to pay $400 for an all metal version.

Quality right thur. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that the G35 and the Nissan fucking Maxima share the same motor? Luxury and Performance right thur. LOL
