Infiniti Announces New Naming Strategy

Infiniti (Nissan) has announced a new naming strangely for their future lineups.

Good move or bad move?

The "G" has been an iconic name. A model basically put Infiniti on the map. It brought style, performance and luxury at a price thousands of dollars below BMW. This was one of the best selling points. The G series and the M series are the only two models that I believe actually sells. So going with the Q series (Queer series) makes perfect sense. Because the G series (gay series) is to offensive to it's gay owners.

However, after the G35, Infiniti has decided to take a step away from what brought it success. The price of the G37 is thousands more than what the G35 originally cost. For a few extra more, you can actually get a better car. (BMW, Lexus and even Acura).

With the new branding, it's going to be pretty damn confusing. I mean, every single car will start with the letter Q. So a gas guzzling V8 SUV will be called a QX80, and a BMW wannbee will be called the Q70. WTF kind of naming is that?

G35 = 3.5 liter. G37 = 3.7 liter. So the QX80 = 8.0 liter? Q70= 7.0 liter? Wow!

Also in the mix is a brand new motor. Manufactured by, Nissan.. oops, I mean Mercedes! This is actually good news. The previous VQ series was one crappy ass motor. Burns oils all day. Even the new G37 suffers from the dreaded oil consumption and engine valove cover warping causing oil to pool on the spark plugs. The VQ motors has 2 very poorly designed plastic valve covers.

Instead of the aluminum covers you see on a cheap ass Honda. I guess plastic is better right? And get this, these fuckers want $300 for 1 damn plastic pos valve cover alone. Talk about rip off.

The reason for the name change? I think it's partly due to G35 driver and My G37. Those ricers make the "brand" look bad. I mean, all those fucking ricers showing up at the dealership with fiberglass bumpers, black ass tail lights, and "hellaflush" wheels that can barely make it the drive way. I can see why Infiniti is doing everything they can to pull away from the ricer scene.

I mean, they are trying to promote themselves as a "luxury brand". They have middle-class citizens showing up at the dealership trying to "pretend" to be wealthy by buying a BMW wannbee and how are they going to make a sale when these 19 year old kids pull up with their ricers and their neon lights. Bodykids that don't fit properly and wheels that are so slanted, it looks Chinese. LMAO Pulling in with their hip-hop music on full blast and another kid trying to gangster park near the newer G37's talking about intakes and wheel spacers. That is just a very poor image to the brand.

I think Infiniti has lost it ways. Instead of providing a decent vehicle at a decent price. It's offering a decent vehicle at a BMW kinda price point. Stupid move. Especially since Infiniti is no where near BMW, Lexus and Acura when it comes to quality, luxury, performance. The one thing they do got that emulates the other two makes is service. They provide loaner cars. And for the amount of time my POS G35 has been at the dealership for repairs, a loaner car is a good thing.
